On behalf of the Organising Committee, the Australian Geoscience Council (AGC), and the Indonesian Geoparks Network (IGN), we are pleased to invite you to take part in the Sydney Workshop of the 5th Geotourism Festival & International Conference. The workshop is being organised by the AGC and will take place in Sydney, Australia, on the 18th of July 2024.
This workshop is an international event open to scientists, educators, students, professionals, tourism planners/managers/operators, and anyone involved in geotourism. The focus of the workshop is on “Geotourism Framework Strategy Development,” featuring international speakers from Australia, Indonesia, and New Zealand. It will also include field trips to world-class geotourism areas close to Sydney. The workshop aims to raise industry awareness among attendees and provide a space to discuss new challenges and strategies in geotourism in both Indonesia and Australia.

The Sydney Workshop of the 5th Geotourism Festival & International Conference will be hosted at the Camperdown/Darlington campus of the University of Sydney. Set amidst the iconic landmarks and vibrant cultural atmosphere of the city, the University offers state-of-the-art facilities, creating an ideal setting for the workshop. In close proximity to the venue, there are world-class geotourism areas, providing opportunities to explore the surrounding GeoRegions and visit the globally renowned Blue Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage site, during post-workshop field trips.
REGISTRATION
The organising committee have been working hard to deliver a workshop of high quality that provides value for money. For early-bird registrants, the cost is $100, while students benefit from a reduced rate of $20.
Registration includes:
- A full day of presentations, including talks and posters from Australia, Indonesia, and New Zealand
- An afternoon panel discussion about opportunities for geoscientists in geotourism
- Tea & Coffee provided during workshop breaks
- Sandwich Lunch in the Foyer of New Law Building
The early-bird registration price is available until Monday 17th June, 2024. After this date the standard registration price of $150 applies. The optional workshop dinner, inclusive of speakers and a cultural performance, and optional field trips are available at additional costs.
